Post Orientation Reflection

The first of highlight of the Orientation is the successful conquering of one of the 9m high element. I was glad that I did not fall from the element.I was rather afraid of heights and I have never looked down from a great height just standing on a cable hooked on ropes .

The second highlight was the wonderful performance put up by our class. I did not expect the skit to go so well as we did not prepare a script and rehearsal. The last highlight of all is to get to know my new classmates of 2011.

There some low moments during the orientation and the last two weeks, one of it was during camp when i did not challenge the rock wall which i really wanted to because of its level of difficulty. The other low moment was

I learnt that everybody has its own strength and weakness. The greatest takeaway from the orientation was realizing that I have got over my fear of heights. Another takeaway I had from the orientation camp was to lead the class into doing a assignment.

I learnt that by taking a bold step forward you will never guess the outcome.I surprised myself by proving to me that I could overcome my fears and it is possible. I  have never dream that I would climb a intermediate or high element . I had also learnt to try for anything and do not give up in the first place.Give it your best in everything you do.

I look forward to my new CCA that I am joining which is the media club.

Homework Communication (English)

1. Why is communication important?
Communication enables us to convey our message and what we wished to express. If there is no communication between everybody, they will be living in their own world with no interactions between people.

2. What is/are your favourite forms of communication? Why?
I prefer to communicate through conversations and emails . Speaking is the most direct way of communication . I can type out my messages and send them to my friends of we are not able to speak to them.

3. How do you decide which form of communication to use in a situation?
I would choose the most direct and simple way to express myself in different situations.

4. What difficulties do you face in communicating with others?
I face conflicts among people while communicating, difficulty in understanding each other  and different views in seeing various matters.

Day 2 :End-of-Day Reflection

The very last part of my video was cut off. I meant to say : Everyone is different. They will view many situations in various ways and express it differently too. Yes,I am happy to be in my class.I realized that my classmates are responsive and cooperative too.I believed that we can succeed together.

    Day 2 : Tower Building

    Day 1 Mac Attack 1 - Activity 4: End-of-Day-Reflection

I have got to know our form teacher (Ms Lim) and classmates during the admin period and as well as the icebreaking games like: 'Blow Wind Blow'.I had familiarized with my register number, locker and house colour. I have learnt the SST cheers and batch dance at the hall, taught by the wonderful  PSLs.

After the interesting lessons of SST cheers and dance, Ms Lim had begun to guide us into the discussion of the 3'R's. After sharing our ideas and definitions with the class.Together with Nina, Yi Chieh and Wei Siew, we  form a group  to complete the activity. We have to pen our ideas on a large sheet of paper and choose the best one that represents us.

After lunch, there was a briefing about the orientation camp on 6th Jan to 8th Jan 2011. At about 2:30 p.m.  , We got started on the Day 1 Mac Attack 1 Activities. Ms Lim shared with us the ground rules and the review of the things we had discussed today. We started of with the first activity- a self introduction of myself . I finished my self introduction within minutes to spare. Ms Lim ended the day and told us our homework

------ I have learnt that a secondary student has to adapt to being a responsible person, the important roles to play at school and the rights that I have . Being a cyber citizen, I have to know my limits and control myself .

------- I am curious about the different and interesting way of learning in SST. I am also interested in applied subjects like media and bio-technology as these subjects are not comman in secondary schools.

------- I hope to achieve for SST and represent the school in competitions.

This picture illustrates my growth  in school through the activities conducted . As a group member of the team, I should be participating actively in the group's discussion and I have the responsibility to be sure that we finish our task within the time limit.
